Michael Wachter


Michael Wachter grew up in St. Georgen im Attergau and received his first horn lessons at the age of 10 from Erhard Zehetner in Kremsmünster, where he also attended the Stiftsgymnasium.

Following his bachelor’s degree with Klaus Zajer, he completed the master’s program with Gerhard Kulmer at the Vienna Conservatory.

Private lessons with Wolfgang Tomböck, Lars Michael Stransky and Franz Söllner rounded out his training.

Michael Wachter won among others prizes in Prima la musica, the Fidelio competition, and Gradus ad Parnassum.

He is a substitute at the Vienna Philharmonic, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Volksoper Vienna, the stage orchestra of the Wiener Staatsoper, and the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler.

Numerous concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Vienna Classics, the Strauss Capelle, the Strauss Festival Orchestra among others have taken him around the world.

Michael Wachter has been teaching at the Music School Laxenburg since 2008.
