Milena Arsovska was born in Macedonia. Her first operatic experience was at the Macedonian National Theater in the title role of Donizetti's Rita, as Elvira / L'italiana in Algeri and Flora / The Turn of the Screw. During her master's studies at the MUK-Private University of Vienna, she sang Pamina/ The Magic Flute, Eurydice / Orpheus in the Underworld, and Lauretta / Gianni Schicchi. At Theater an der Wien in 2010, she had her debut in Die Fledermaus. Because of her convincing stage presence, she was offered a further guest engagement and so she was heard as Seconda Cercatrice in Suor Angelica. At the 2012/13 Summer Festival at the Semmering she was Blonde / The Abduction from the Seraglio, Zerlina / Don Giovanni, and Adele / Die Fledermaus. In 2015, she debuted as Gretchen / Der Wildschütz at the Magdeburg Theater and as the title role in Stravinsky's Nightingale at the National Theater in Prague. In 2016, she performed Ariel / The Tempest at the National Theater Ostrava. She has won many awards at international competitions.
The Austrian Soprano with Slovakian roots studied Voice at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna and also completed a degree in International Business at the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna. She has won several international singing competitions and received a scholarship from the Armin-Welter-Foundation of Zurich.
Since her debut in 2007 at the Stadttheater Baden, she has given guest performances at opera houses and theatres, such as the Volksoper Vienna, Theater an der Wien, Neue Oper Wien, Theater in der Josefstadt, Landestheater Linz, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, Theater Luzern.
Her repertoire comprises roles such as Pamina and 1.Dame (Mozart: The Magic Flute), Lauretta (Puccini: Gianni Schicchi), Gretel (Humperdinck: Hänsel and Gretel), Ninetta (Rossini: The Theiving Magpie) and Sylva (Kalman: Die Csardasfürstin). She has performed concerts and recitals in major concert halls, such as Philharmonie Gasteig in Munich, Konserthuset in Stockholm, Musiikkitalo in Helsinki, and Tokyo Opera City Hall among others.
Julia Koci was born in Vienna and graduated from Mannes College of Music in New York City. Given her extensive background in dance, acting, and vocal performance she is a versatile performer whose repertoire encompasses early music to modern and also musical theatre. The soprano has sung in prestigious halls and theaters such as the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Stockholm Concert hall, the Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus, Budapest Concert hall, Madrid Nacional auditorio, the Burgtheater, Baden Stadttheater, Neue Oper Wien and summer festivals such as Savonlinna Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Opernfestpiele St. Margarethen, Wiener Operettensommer and the Carinthischer Sommer. Concert tours and opera roles have taken her around the globe from Tokyo to Doha to the USA. Julia has been an ensemble member at the Volksoper Vienna since 2013.
She discovered her love for singing at the age of nine years in the choir Schubert Sängerknaben of Vienna where she also had the opportunity to sing Erster Knabe in The Magic Flute at the Salzburg State Theater in 2006. She earned her bachelors with highest honors at the Anton Bruckner University. In 2014, she began her master’s in music drama design at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Jenifer Lary is a prize winner of the 2016 Nico Dostal Competition. At the Sommeroperette in Pramtal she sang the role of Hortense in Heuberger’s The Opera Ball Opernball and Annamirl in Fall’s The Merry Farmer. At the Musiktheater Linz, she also sang Stasi in Kalman’s Die Csárdásfürstin and Sand and Taumännchen in Humperdink’s Hänsel and Gretel et al. In the beautiful Schoenbrunn palace theatre, Jenifer Lary sang Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and the role of Gretel in Humperdink’s Hänsel and Gretel.
Soprano Mara Mastalir was born in Vienna and has been an ensemble member of the Vienna Volksoper since 2009. She has sung at the New National Theatre of Tokyo and several times at the Wiener Festwochen. Her repertoire includes the roles of Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Pamina (The Magic Flute), Marzelline (Fidelio), Clorinda (Cinderella), Micaela (Carmen), Annina (A Night in Venice), Helene (A Waltz Dream) and Valencienne (The Merry Widow), among others. Mara Mastalir performs her concert and recital repertoire regularly in the largest concert halls of Europe and Asia including the Vienna Konzerthaus and Vienna Musikverein.
The Nigeria-born vocalist received her musical training in Austria; first in Klagenfurt and subsequently at the Conservatory Vienna Private University with Gabrielle Sima and Hilda DeGroote. Bibiana Nwobilo has been performing on a regular basis both in Austria and throughout Europe. Her roles include Euridice in Orpheus in the Underworld, Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Madame Herz in The Impresario, among others. Bibiana Nwobilo also regularly gives concerts with the Imperial Classic Orchestra. In 2007, she won the “Professor Armin Weltner Foundation” award.
The Austrian soprano began her vocal studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Julia Bauer-Huppmann and furthered her education with masterclasses with Kurt Widmer, Edith Lienbacher and David Lutz. She is a scholarship holder of the “Yehudi Menuhin-Foundation” and the “Concorso lirico Martinelli-Pertile” (Italy). Pratscher has been an award winner in renowned competitions, including the “Nico-Dostal operetta competition 2012”, “Competizione dell’ Opera”, “Accademia Belcanto” (Graz) and the “E.-Smola Förderpreis 2015” (SWR, TV-channel). After her debut as Papagena at the “Opernfestspiele St. Margarethen”, one of the biggest European open air festivals for opera, she was engaged there for additional seasons. Elisabeth Pratscher succeeds as an opera singer at different productions in Vienna, Munich, Zurich and China.
The Austrian baritone studied at the University of Music and Arts Vienna with Peter Edelmann and Florian Boesch. In the 2013/14 season he was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Zurich Opera. Further engagements took him to Deutsche Oper am Rhein, to Staatstheater Darmstadt, Opera Daegu, Korea, Stadttheater Chemnitz and to the Operetta Festival Seefestspiele Mörbisch. Beside his opera performances, he often sings oratorios for example Haydn’s The Seasons, Brahms’ A German Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. Since 2016, Christoph Filler has been a member of the ensemble of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, where he sand Guglielmo, Papageno, Danilo, Dottore Malatesta and Schaunard among others.
Michael C. Havlicek was born in Vienna. He earned his diploma in 2005 with the role of Don Giovanni. Among his teachers were Edith Lienbacher and Prof. Gerhard Kahry. In 2005, he made his debut in St.Pölten as Papageno. This role he also sang at the festival in St. Margarethen, in Japan, and of course at the Volksoper Vienna, where he became a permanent member of the ensemble in 2012. In 2014, he appeared for the first time at the Opera National de Paris in The Magic Flute, conducted by Philippe Jordan. Other roles: Boni, Guglielmo, Conte-Figaro, Belcore, Schaunard, Bobinet, Montschi etc.
The Austrian Baritone Philippe Spiegel was born in Chile and gained his earliest musical experience as a soprano soloist in the Wilten Boys Choir in Innsbruck. Since successfully finishing his studies at Vienna’s University of Music, he has been performing in roles such as Papageno, Guglielmo, Figaro (The Barber of Seville), or Marcello. The young artist also pursues a busy career as a concert singer; his repertoire includes the bass solos in Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Mozart’s Requiem as well as Haydn’s The Creation. His appearances have taken place in venues such as the Opéra de Lyon, Salzburg Festival, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, as well as the Wiener Musikverein. Recent projects include Jupiter (Orphée aux enfers) a world premiere of the oratorio Moses at the Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg and concerts in Leipzig’s Gewandhaus.
Born in Innsbruck in 1991, Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger has been a student of Karl-Heinz Hanser and Florian Boesch at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He was successful in several national and international competitions. In 2012 he made his debut as Conte d´Almaviva in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro at the Schoenbrunn Palace Theater as well as in 2013 as Frank and Falke in The Bat by Johann Strauss. In 2016 Wolfgang became a permanent member of the ensemble of Opera Cologne. There he already sang roles like Hans in The White Rose, Ned Keene in Peter Grimes, Lescaut in Manon and Ping in Turandot. As a member of the opera studio of the Bregenz Festival, he sang the title role in Don Giovanni in 2016 and only one year later, he debuted on the floating stage as Morales in Bizet’s Carmen. In 2019, he will return to the floating stage to sing Marullo in Verdi’s Rigoletto.
The Austrian baritone Thomas Weinhappel was honored for his outstanding performances as Hamlet (A.Thomas) with both of the highest Czech music prizes. He was the first Austrian to receive these awards. Thomas Weinhappel attended the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and graduated with honors following many years with the Vienna Boys' Choir. In 2001, the famous Austrian director Michael Haneke stated that Thomas is able to “breathe life into roles” namely Don Giovanni, Tarquinius, Almaviva, Papageno, Posa, and Wolfram. He not only feels home in the world of opera, but also in the genres operetta (Danilo, Homonay), musical (Show Boat) and song (The Winter Journey).
