30 years of Schönbrunn Palace Concerts: the 10,000th concert

On 16 April 2026 the Orangery celebrated three milestones at once: 30 years of Schönbrunn Palace Concerts, the start of the 30th season and the 10,000th concert.

Since 8 May 1997 the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna has played at Schönbrunn Palace evening after evening. On 16 April 2026 guests from culture, tourism and politics came to the Orangery to celebrate the 10,000th concert and the start of the 30th season, among them Elisabeth Zehetner, Astrid Steharnig-Staudinger and Norbert Kettner.

Principal conductor Guido Mancusi premiered two works of his own: the “Schönbrunn Fanfare” and the polka “Duck dich”, dedicated to managing director Peter Hosek. Klaus Panholzer presented Peter Hosek with a gold record in recognition of three decades of Schönbrunn Palace Concerts.

The Orangery is the fitting place for it: Mozart and Salieri are said to have met here musically in 1786. Today Strauss, Mozart and operetta fill it every evening.
