First time in Malta: Viennese music by the Mediterranean

In October 2026 the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna played in Malta for the first time: two concerts in one day with music by the Strauss family, with vocal soloists from Vienna, in front of a full house.

"Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna make Malta debut with a night of Strauss", wrote the Times of Malta. In fact there were two concerts in one day, the first already in the afternoon: the orchestra's first performances on the island, in October 2026, devoted to the Strauss family.

Vienna under a golden ceiling

The hall was full to the last seat, the gilded ceiling above the audience, the orchestra from Vienna on stage. For the musicians it is a special moment every time: music they have been playing every evening at Schönbrunn Palace for years, heard for the first time in a new place, by a new audience.

Voices from Vienna

Vocal soloists from Vienna's stages were part of both concerts: Jenifer Lary and Michael C. Havlicek, Simona Eisinger and Marco Di Sapia sang duets with the orchestra. At the end, soloists and orchestra took their bow together.

For us it was a debut, and hopefully the beginning of a story. You will find the Times of Malta's report below.
